SA LONGBOARD SERIES MOVES TO CAPE TOWN FOR EVENT #3

With two of five events having already been held, the first being the Kakgat Classic in Stilbaai and the second having been the Wardkiss Pro which was recently surfed at Durban's Dairy Beach, the tour moves to Cape Town next for the Western Province Open.

The Western Province Open is going to be held over the Earth Wave weekend at Miuzenburg on the 25th-26th of September. After which the remaining two events the Eastern Province Open and the final event the South African Longboard Championships in Durban early next year will determine the series champion.

Although the grand prize has yet to be officially announced the SA Longboard Tour Champion for 2010 is likely to walk away with an airplane ticket to one of the top international longboard events. Another incentive for the series surfers is the Blowing-Up Award, where the winner will be awarded an un-announced trip to some destination.

Currently things are tight at the top with only 635 points separating the top five surfers. At the moment Dylan Mcloed is holding onto a slender lead. His nearest four rivals Mike Grendon, Justin Bing, Brad Weare and Brad Trickett will be going all out at Cape Town this weekend where they will, no doubt, have to fight their way through and strong field of Muizenburg locals and specilists.

With Muizenburg going to favour the “locals” Justin Bing and Mike Grendon will be looking to make a move, before the tour heads to the Eastern Cape and Durban.  Although I call these guys locals, they probably only surf the Burg about twice a year, but they are used to the fridged cold waters of the Cape, which may give them an advantage.

Entries are open until 24 hours before the event starts. To enter please www.wplba.co.za
